There has been a lot of exciting news and information revealed at the Gamescom 2021 Opening Night Live. The developers at Iron Gate have revealed some of their own, something that has been expected for a long time now. The Hearth and Home update for Valheim, the survival Viking game, has been teased for some time now, and now we know when it will be released!

A new trailer confirmed that the Valheim: Hearth and Home will be released on the 16^th of September. This update will feature Valheim’s first major content update. The update will change the food and stamina system completely.

There will be divisions of food types, marked by different colored icons, that will improve health, stamina, or both. The food bar is going to be replaced with the new update, which will allow players to better judge when they need to top up their health and stamina.

Hearth & Home

A stagger bar is also going to be introduced, which will make the defense more nuanced. The stagger bar can be maintained by keeping health up. This implies that both health and stamina are going to be essential for playstyles. The way in which parrying and blocking are used will also be changed.
Blocking is going to be based on maximum health. This shows that the new food changes are going to be important and players will have to monitor their health constantly. The more hits a player blocks, the more likely it is that their shield will give way.
The Buckler is going to be able to parry entire enemy attacks after the update, but the developers have said that normal-sized shields will “continue to be a balanced choice for the standard fighter”. With just a few weeks to go, we cannot wait to get our hands on the new update!
