#Kobe Bryant Hall of Fame induction moved to May 2021

The NBA announced Saturday that the ceremony for Koby Bryant’s induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame will be held in May of 2021.

It had been announced in April that Bryant would be awarded the honor posthumously.

The Lakers legend died at age 41 in a helicopter crash in January, along with his daughter, Gianna, 13 and seven others.

The induction ceremony for Bryant and fellow NBA  greats Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett had been scheduled for August in Springfield, Massachusetts, but is now pushed back to May due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Other recipients of the honor will be two-time NBA championship winner Rudy Tomjanovich and Kim Mulkey, who coaches Baylor’s women’s basketball team.

Also receiving the honor are Bentley’s 1,000-game-winner, Barbara Stevens, three-time Final Four coach Eddie Sutton and the former FIBA Secretary General, Patrick Baumann.

Baumann, who was selected by the international committee, passed away in October; Sutton passed away in May.
