#Kingdom’s 3rd Live-Action Movie Releases New Trailer, Visual

Kingdom: Unmei no Honoo, the upcoming sequel to 2019’s Kingdom and 2022’s Kingdom 2: Haruka naru Daichi e, has received a second trailer and a new visual, with the latter featuring Shin, Ou Ki, and Eisei.

The new Kingdom live-action movie is set to premiere in Japan on July 28. The plot will see the forces of Zhao and Qin clashing, with Shin being given 100 men to lead into battle. Yuuki Yamada, Ainosuke Kataoka, and Kouji Yamamoto are joining the cast as Mangoku, Fuu Ki, and Chou Sou, respectively.

Like its predecessors, Kingdom: Unmei no Honoo is based on the Warring States period-set manga by Yasuhisa Hara, which began in 2006 and has 67 tankoubon volumes as of January 2023. The Kingdom manga is serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump and published under the Young Jump Comics label.

Amazon UK describes the first film as:

An epic period drama based on Yasuhisa Hara’s best-selling manga of the same name. Set in China during the Warring States Period, the film tells the story of an orphaned peasant boy who encounters another boy destined to become the Qin emperor. Serving as the key general, the peasant fights on behalf of the king to unite China.

Shinsuke Satou is once again directing with Yutaka Yamada as composer and Tsutomu Kuroiwa and Hara as the screenplay writers. The returning main cast includes Kento Yamazaki as Shin, Ryou Yoshizawa as Eisei, and Kanna Hashimoto as Ka Ryo Ten.

The Kingdom manga has inspired an anime series that began in 2012. The fourth and latest season, directed by Kingdom Season 3‘s Kenichi Imaizumi, premiered last April. Pierrot produced all of the seasons, with its subsidiary St.Signpost sharing the credit for the latest two.
