#King of Prism Mixed-Media Project Announces Next Anime Installment Production

During the “Infinite Love Thanks Week Eve” event that took place this Thursday, it was announced that the next anime installment in the King of Prism mixed-media franchise has been greenlit and confirmed to be in production.

Further details on the new anime project were not revealed, and the announcement did not specify the format of the next week. It was also teased that the franchise would be heading “towards a new stage….”

This week’s event commemorated the extended theatrical run of the King of Prism: Dramatic Prism.1 film with a special “Infinite Love Thanks Movie” video, which ended with the next anime’s announcement. The film first premiered in Japanese theaters on August 16, 2024.

Masakazu Hishida (previous King of Prism anime) directed the King of Prism: Dramatic Prism.1 anime film and wrote its script under the pen name Jou Aoba (King of Prism series screenwriter and scriptwriter). Other staff consisted of Mai Matsuura (King of Prism by Pretty Rhythm, King of Prism Pride the Hero, King of Prism original character designer) and Shoji Hara (King of Prism -Shiny Seven Stars) as character designers, and Yoshihiro Otobe (King of Prism series) as CG director. Tatsunoko Production was in charge of the animation production.

The 2024 film is the latest entry in the King of Prism series after the 2020 compilation film King of Prism All Stars: Prism Show Best 10, which features the top 10 fan-voted Prism Shows. The King of Prism franchise is a spin-off of Pretty Rhythm: Rainbow Live mixed-media project, and is part of the larger Pretty Rhythm and Pretty Series franchise.

The first King of Prism anime was 2016’s King of Prism by Pretty Rhythm, which was followed by 2017’s King of Prism Pride the Hero and 2019’s King of Prism -Shiny Seven Stars.
