#Kid Cudi Doesn’t Find Your ‘Day ’N’ Nite’ TikTok’s Entertaining – & He Explains Why

Although TikTok has boosted the visibility for several acts within the Hip Hop and R&B space throughout the quarantine (ask Megan Thee Stallion, Roddy Ricch and Doja Cat for fast responses), Kid Cudi isn’t feeling how fans are treating his 2009 breakout single “Day ‘n’ Nite” across the platform.

And he’s exercising his right to be heard on the matter loud and clear. 



Fans of all walks of life are currently having a ball across TikTok utilizing the “lonely stoner” anthem to flip the script on personal mantras as they flip the light switch off in the room (hence “Day ‘n’ Nite”).



On Friday (March 12), the Man On The Moon star lashed out at participators of the unnamed challenge, citing the manipulation of the record in the bite-sized video clips. 

“I dont fuck w what they did to my song on tik tok takin out the lyrics,” Cudi wrote on Twitter.

“We live in a strange time. Im not flattered,” he added with a shrug emoji.

After agreeing with a fan who called the spree “wack,” he clarified to another that he wasn’t necessarily having a cow over the situation but felt the need to voice his opinion. 

“I dont think im makin it “deep” by tweetin how I feel,” he replied to the second fan. “Now if I was ranting thats another thing. Nothing wrong w me stating I dont approve, plus if u are such a fan, u know my lyrics are most important to me. Im passionate about my shit so idc who has a problem w that.”

Co-produced with day-one soundman Dot da Genius and adding flair to both his debut mixtape and studio album A Kid Named Cudi and Man On The Moon: The End of Day, respectively, “Day N Nite” peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and holds a 5x platinum certification (which would probably get higher should the challenge continue).
