The untitled, highly anticipated feature comedy film produced by Kendrick Lamar and South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone will no longer be released in 2025. A report in Variety reveals the release date has been bumped from July 4, 2025 to March 20, 2026.

No reason has emerged for the film’s delay, and updates on production have been scant. First announced in 2022, the film is written by Vernon Chatman, co-creator of Wonder Showzen and writer for South Park. It centers around a young African-American man who performs as a slave at a “living museum” and discovers that his slave relatives were owned by the ancestors of his white girlfriend. Parker signed on as the film’s director in 2023.

Next month, Kendrick Lamar will begin his worldwide Grand National Tour with SZA, performing shows in the United States, Canada, the U.K. and E.U. In February, he performed at the Super Bowl and won five Grammys, including Song of the Year and Record of the Year for his Drake diss “Not Like Us.”
