Bollinger B1 SUV (from $125,000)

What the B1 lacks in style, it makes up in capability. The rather utilitarian-looking Bollinger B1 is likely to be heavily optioned by well-heeled customers who will customize the vehicle to their taste. The B1’s dual motors provide 614 horsepower and 668 lb-ft of torque in an all-wheel-drive configuration. Power comes from a 142 kWh battery pack, which delivers approximately 200 miles of range. The B1 boasts 15 inches of ground clearance and a 7,500-pound towing capacity. Available 2022.

Bollinger B2 Truck (from $125,000)

The Bollinger B2 is the pickup sibling to the B1. It includes dual motors that also make 614 horsepower and 668 lb-ft of torque in AWD. The B2 relies on the same 142 kWh battery pack found in the B1 SUV.

The pickup features a crew cab with a 6-foot bed and 15 inches of ground clearance. It’s capable of Level 1, 2, and 3 charging, the latter allowing for a 75-minute fast charge. The B2’s range is approximately 200 miles. Available 2022.

Bollinger B2 Chass-E Cab (from $70,000)

Similar specs to the B2, it features all the utility of a chassis cab configuration ready to be upfitted to a buyer’s specific needs. Available in rear- and all-wheel-drive configurations as well as a dual-rear-wheel setup.

Ford

Ford F-150 Lightning (from $39,974)

The first mass-produced electric pickup truck, the Ford F-150 Lightning looks like a traditional half-ton pickup but rides on an all-new chassis that integrates the battery pack and motors. The base model provides 426 horsepower, a 230-mile range, and standard all-wheel drive. The extended-range model offers 563 hp and 775 lb-ft of torque and up to 300 miles of range.

Intelligent Backup Power System and 80-amp Ford Charge Station Pro, the Lightning can supply up to 9.6 kW of energy to power a home for three days following a power outage. The Lightning has a targeted payload of 2,000 pounds and a projected 10,000-pound towing capacity. Prices start under $40,000, with reservations accepted for 2022 deliveries.

General Motors

Ultium battery pack, Chevrolet’s new electric pickup, the Silverado EV, will come in a base model for work fleets. We expect higher-spec versions in LT and High Country trim levels to follow. The Ultium battery system scales up as necessary to provide up to 200 kWh and a 400-mile range.

The Silverado EV will be built alongside the GMC Hummer EV SUV and Hummer EV Truck and will most likely share the same powertrain, meaning three electric motors. All-wheel drive (AWD) will probably be standard. Full specifications will come later. The Silverado EV will bow sometime in the 2023-2024 timeframe.

GMC Hummer EV Truck (from $79,995)

Offering impressive on- and off-road capabilities, the Hummer EV Truck will include a 24-module Ultium battery pack with a range of 350-plus miles and three drive motors producing 1,000 horsepower and an estimated 11,500 lb-ft of torque on the Edition 1 model. Regular models will offer 625 hp and 7,400 lb-ft of torque.

One-pedal driving, Regen on Demand, and CrabWalk capability are other standout features. The Hummer EV can use the industry’s fastest 350-kilowatt DC fast chargers to achieve 100 miles of charge in 10 minutes. An optional adaptive air suspension will raise the Hummer EV from its standard 10.1 inches of ground clearance to 15.9 inches. Available 2024.

GMC Hummer EV SUV (from $79,995)

The 5-passenger SUV version of the new Hummer EV is equally impressive with its own 24-module Ultium battery pack and 350-plus mile range. Three drive motors will produce 625 horsepower and up to 7,400 lb-ft of torque, while the Edition 1 model steps up to 1,000 horsepower and an estimated 11,500 lb-ft of torque.

Like the truck, the SUV offers one-pedal driving and CrabWalk capability to move laterally from tight spots. In addition, GM says the Hummer EV can use 350-kilowatt DC fast chargers and get up to 100 miles of charge in 10 minutes. Hummer’s off-road capability takes advantage of the available adaptive air suspension’s 10.1 inches to 15.9 inches of ground clearance. Available 2024.

Lordstown

company says it will offer the Endurance pickup truck that employs an innovative hub-motor design. Rather than using axle-mounted motors front and rear, electric motors incorporated into each wheel hub drives the truck. The 4-wheel-drive system provides a combined 600 horsepower and from 2,000 to 4,400 lb-ft of torque. The Endurance has a tow rating of up to 7,500 pounds. The 109 kWh batteries can be charged from 30 to 90 minutes on a fast charger for a range of 250+ miles. According to recent news reports, the company is having difficulty with funding. The production is uncertain at best.

Rivian

Rivian R1T Truck (from $67,500)

Poised to bring the first electric-powered pickup truck to market in North America, Rivian is close to selling its first units. It features one body style and bed length with room for five passengers and storage in the cabin and the front trunk. The R1T is powered by four electric motors for e4WD and delivers 800 combined horsepower and 900 lb-ft of torque. The standard air suspension varies ground clearance from 8.0 to 14.4 inches.

There are two available battery configurations: a 135 kWh large pack with a 300-mile range and a 180 kWh Max Pack with more than 400 miles on tap. The Max Pack delivers a 0-60 mph time of 3 seconds. In addition, the R1T has a payload capacity of 1,760 pounds and can tow up to 11,000 pounds. Next year, a less powerful and less expensive R1T debuts with a 105 kWh battery and a range of 250 miles. Available summer 2021.

Rivian R1S SUV EV (from $70,000)

The 2022 R1S is the 5- or 7-passenger SUV version of the R1T truck. It offers three trims and three battery options. For now, the only battery option is the 135 kWh unit with a range of 300 miles. Standard battery power will come later from a 105 kWh battery with a 250-mile range, while an optional 180 kWh battery pack will be available that can carry you up to 400 miles.

Total power from the four electric motors checks in with 800 horsepower and 900 lb-ft of torque. The 180 kWh pack can take you from 0-to-60 mph in 3 seconds and can tow up to 7,700 pounds. Like the R1T, the R1S uses an individual electric motor at each wheel and includes an advanced air suspension that can vary the ride height from 8.1 to 14.2 inches. Deliveries will begin in fall 2021.

Tesla

Cybertruck features striking looks, ultra-hard cold-rolled stainless steel construction, three motors supplying an all-wheel-drive powertrain, and claims of up to 500 miles on a single charge. This high-powered version of the Cybertruck can achieve 0-to-60 mph times of 2.9 seconds and has a towing capacity of 14,000 pounds. It carries up to six passengers in a three-to-a-row configuration.

The 6.5-foot-long bed provides up to 100 cubic feet of lockable storage. An integrated ramp is perfect for loading an ATV, and an adaptive air suspension enables ease of loading, and when raised, up to 16 inches of ground clearance for serious off-roading. A single motor version supplies up to 250 miles and 7,500 pounds of towing capacity, while dual-motor versions up those numbers to 300 miles and 10,000 towing pounds. Tesla Autopilot is standard. It will take about 10 hours for a full charge using a Level 2 240-volt charger. Available late 2021/early 2022.
