An April 2023 release date has been revealed for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc, the next season of the popular Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba anime adaptation.

It was also revealed that the first episode of Swordsmith Village Arc will be an hour-long special.

Additionally, It was announced that February 3 will see the release of World Tour Jouei “Kimetsu no Yaiba” Jougen Shuuketsu, Soshite Katanakaji Sato e, a compilation that features Entertainment District Arc‘s 10th and 11th episodes as well as Swordsmith Village Arc‘s first episode. The compilation will be screened theatrically in over 80 countries with 4K visuals and remixed audio. Additionally, there will be stage greetings in Tokyo, Los Angeles, Paris, Berlin, Mexico City, Seoul, and Taipei.

The first Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba season premiered in 2019 and was followed by Demon Slayer – Kimetsu No Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train in 2020. The TV broadcast version of Mugen Train premiered in October 2021, while Entertainment District Arc ran from December 2021 to February 2022. The anime is produced by Ufotable

Director Haruo Sotozaki and character designer/chief animation director Akira Matsushima are reprising their roles for Swordsmith Village Arc.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is based on the manga by Koyoharu Gotouge, which was first serialized in 2016 in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine and ended in 2020 with 23 tankoubon volumes. Viz Media describes the manga as:

Learning to destroy demons won’t be easy, and Tanjiro barely knows where to start. The surprise appearance of another boy named Giyu, who seems to know what’s going on, might provide some answers—but only if Tanjiro can stop Giyu from killing his sister first!

The manga has inspired various spin-offs, while the anime has inspired stage plays and the Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 3D fighting game.
