#Kamala Harris announces new senior staffers

Vice President-elect Harris has tapped Hartina Flournoy, chief of staff to former President Clinton, to be her incoming chief of staff, the Biden transition team announced Thursday along with two other hires.

Flournoy, who also worked in public policy for the American Federation of Teachers, the second largest teachers union in the country, will be joined on Harris’ team by Ambassador Nancy McEldowney and Rohini Kosoglu, who will serve as national security advisor and domestic policy advisor, respectively.

“Together with the rest of my team, today’s appointees will work to get this virus under control, open our economy responsibly and make sure it lifts up all Americans, and restore and advance our country’s leadership around the world,” Harris said in a statement on the three hires.

McEldowney is the former ambassador to Bulgaria, though she also served the State Department on missions in Turkey and Azerbaijan.

Kosoglu was serving as a senior advisor to Harris on the Biden-Harris transition team; prior to that, she served as Harris’ chief of staff in the Senate.

Over the weekend, Harris announced that Ashley Etienne, a senior adviser to the Biden campaign and spokeswoman for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, would be joining the team as communications director.

She also announced that campaign senior adviser Symone Sanders would become her chief spokeswoman.
