A new trailer for Crunchyroll and Adult Swim’s original anime Fena: Pirate Princess has been released. It was also announced that the anime is set to release in the summer.

The trailer offers a look at some period-era naval action and sword fights, and also provides an introduction to the show’s titular protagonist. Fena is the survivor of a ship attack that occurred when she was a child, with Fena being separated from her friend Yukimaru in the process. As a young adult, Fena finds herself in an arranged marriage with a stranger and chooses to escape from this fate.

Fena later encounters an assortment of characters, including what seems to be her primary allies in the form of an Asian crew, and receives an item left for her by her father. The trailer implies that finding out the purpose for her father’s previous voyage and continuing it herself will serve as major motivations for Fena.

The staff of Fena: Pirate Princess includes Kazuto Nakazawa (B: The Beginning) as the director and original story creator, Asako Kuboyama as the screenplay writer, and Yuki Kajiura (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) as music composer. Meanwhile, the cast includes Asami Seto as Fena, Ryota Suzuki as Yukimaru, Takahiro Sakurai as Shitan, Aoi Yuki as Karin, Gen Sato as Enju, Ryota Osaka as Kaede, Jun Osuk as Tsubaki, Shintaro Tanaka as Makaba, Manabu Muraji as Salman, and Hiroaki Hirata as Otto.

A previous trailer for the anime was released in 2020. While the first trailer presented a more serious impression with its slightly washed-out color palette and use of rock music, the new trailer softens the edges with a warmer aesthetic and a more adventurous tone, although it still includes scenes of bloodshed.
