#Kaiju No.8 Anime To Continue With Sequel

Kafka and the Defense Force’s animated journey isn’t over, as the production of a follow-up to the recently concluded Kaiju No.8 anime has been announced.

Kaiju No.8‘s first season started airing in April and is streaming on Crunchyroll and Ani-One Asia ULTRA. Episodes were also streamed on X )formerly Twitter). Crunchyroll confirmed in an email that it will stream the continuation too.

The anime adapts Shueisha-published manga by Naoya Matsumoto, which debuted in 2020 on Shonen Jump+ and has 12 tankoubon volumes as of June 2024. VIZ Media describes the manga as: 

Kafka hopes to one day keep his pact with his childhood friend Mina to join the Japan Defense Force and fight by her side. But while she’s out neutralizing kaiju as Third Division captain, Kafka is stuck cleaning up the aftermath of her battles. When a sudden rule change makes Kafka eligible for the Defense Force, he decides to try out for the squad once more. There’s just one problem—he’s made the Defense Force’s neutralization list under the code name Kaiju No. 8.

The voice cast includes Masaya Fukunishi as Kafka Hibino, Asami Seto as Mina Ashiro, Wataru Katou as Reno Ichikawa, Fairouz Ai as Kikoru Shinomiya, and Kengo Kawanishi as Soshiro Hoshinawere.
