NBC Sports Washington anchor and reporter Julie Donaldson is being hired by Washington’s NFL team to lead its radio broadcast team this season, according to ESPN.

In addition, Donaldson will hold a senior-level role within the organization, which is still waiting on a rebrand after calls to change the team’s controversial name and logo.

The 42-year-old Donaldson will be the first woman to be a regular member of an NFL team’s radio broadcast booth, per Westwood One. She will not be doing play-by-play, according to the Washington Post, unlike Larry Michael, who abruptly retired last week as sexual harassment allegations surfaced via a report from The Washington Post. Donaldson’s position will include other on-air roles and different areas of oversight.

After 10 years with NBC Sports Washington, Donaldson has been an anchor, reporter and host while covering nearly every team in the Washington-Baltimore area. She was a host of NBA Sports Washington’s Emmy Award-winning NFL pregame and postgame shows and also led multiple special cross-platform projects, including Coaches’ Roundtable and Sports Uncovered podcast.

Donaldson has also done extensive Olympic overage for NBC Sports, serving as a news desk host in 2014 (Sochi), 2016 (Rio) and 2018 (PyeongChang). She previously worked as a reporter for SNY in New York after beginning her career in Miami with Fox Sports.
