#JUJUTSU KAISEN OP Director Shingo Yamashita Helms Adorable New Pokémon Anime Short

To much to the surprise of Pokémon fans worldwide, the Japanese Pokémon Kids TV YouTube channel dropped a new PokéToon short today from none other than JUJUTSU KAISEN opening animation director Shingo Yamashita and the team behind Pokémon: Twilight Wings. The short, titled “Yume no Tsubomi,” is currently only available in Japanese (without subs), but is worth the watch for the animation alone.

The title, “Yume no Tsubomi (Budding Dreams)”, is actually a double meaning, with the lead character’s name being Tsubomi (who is voiced by Inori Minase), as well as the young girl trying to catch her dreams. Her parents were voiced by Manami Numakura (Mama) and Takashi Onozuka (Papa). 

Shingo Yamashita (BURN THE WITCH) directed the short at Studio Colorido, working with fellow Pokémon Twilight Wings alumni Akiko Watanabe as the animation director and character designer, Yo Watanabe (Penguin Highway) as the unit director, and color design from Hitomi Kariya. Stage writer Kureha Matsuzawa provided the script for the short.
