Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Returns to Japanese Theaters on October 17
The Jujutsu Kaisen 0 prequel anime film is returning to Japanese theaters on October 17, 2025 after an announcement at a stage event commemorating Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie. A new trailer and key visual were also released for the new screening.
The main staff of the film includes Sunghoo Park as director, Hiroshi Seko as scriptwriter, Tadashi Hiramatsu as character designer, and Yui Umemoto as assistant director. All of them had previously worked on the first Jujutsu Kaisen season. MAPPA handled the animation production company.
Meanwhile, the film’s main voice cast included:

- • Mikako Komatsu as Maki Zenin
- • Koki Uchiyama as Toge Inumaki
- • Tomokazu Seki as Panda
- • Yuichi Nakamura as Satoru Gojo

The recent Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie began screening in Japan on May 30, 2025 and compiled the first arc of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc.” GKIDS will screen the compilation film in North American theaters with English subtitles and dubbed language version on July 16, 2025.
The second season of Jujutsu Kaisen aired in Japan from July to December in 2023. The first season aired between October 2020 to March 2021.
An anime adaptation of the “Culling Game Arc” was announced after the end of season two. Crunchyroll is currently streaming the TV anime series and the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 prequel spinoff anime film worldwide, outside of Japan.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is adapted from Gege Akutami‘s prequel manga series of the same name, which was first serialized in Shueisha’s Jump GIGA from April 28, 2017 to July 28, 2017. It was later published as a single volume manga in November 2018. VIZ Media releases the manga in English.
The main Jujutsu Kaisen manga by Akutami ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump on March 5, 2018 and ended on September 30, 2024. A total of 30 tankobon volumes were released.
VIZ Media describes the main synopsis of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 as:
Yuta Okkotsu is a nervous high school student who is suffering from a serious problem—his childhood friend Rika has turned into a Curse and won’t leave him alone. Since Rika is no ordinary Curse, his plight is noticed by Satoru Gojo, a teacher at Jujutsu High, a school where fledgling exorcists learn how to combat Curses. Gojo convinces Yuta to enroll, but can he learn enough in time to confront the Curse that haunts him?
