After 157 days in Japanese theaters, JUJUTSU KAISEN 0 has come to a close today with the final screenings and a stage event with the cast that was broadcast across the country into 342 theaters.

While it’ll be a few days until we get the concrete final numbers for the film, which will include these final screenings that include the stage event showings, the numbers up to May 28, the 156th day in theaters, were announced, revealing that JUJUTSU KAISEN 0 has reached 13.7 billion yen (US$120.77 million) at the Japanese box office from 9.77 million tickets sold.

This pushes JUJUTSU KAISEN 0 up to 14th place on the Japanese all-time box office chart. The MAPPA-produced film shares this spot with Tom Cruise’s 2003 film The Last Samurai. There is no doubt that JUJUTSU KAISEN 0 will keep this spot, pushing The Last Samurai down to 15th place. JUJUTSU KAISEN 0 stayed steady as the 8th highest-grossing anime film of all time in Japan.

With these numbers, JUJUTSU KAISEN 0’s place on the Japanese box office charts is solidified behind Weathering with You on both the all-time and the anime charts. The Shinkai film made 14.19 billion yen (US$138 million) making it impossible for JUJUTSU KAISEN to overtake it, even with sold-out showings today.
