#JUJUTSU KAISEN 0 Becomes the 10th Highest-Grossing Anime Film in Japan of All-Time

JUJUTSU KAISEN 0

While JUJUTSU KAISEN 0 has only been in cinemas for a little over a month in Japan, the MAPPA-produced, Sunghoo Park-directed anime film has become the 10th highest-grossing anime film in Japan with its newly updated box office gross from Toho today, overtaking Detective Conan: The Fist of Blue Sapphire over the last week.

As of Sunday, January 30, JUJUTSU KAISEN 0 has brought in 9,839,644,200 yen (US$85.70 million) on the back of 7,191,107 tickets sold. This makes the film the 10th highest-grossing anime film and the 39th highest-grossing overall film at the Japanese box office, overtaking the Japanese version of The Adventures of Milo and Otis, moving it to 40th place, and is just behind Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. To overtake Dead Man’s Chest, JUJUTSU KAISEN 0 will have to surpass 10.02 billion yen, which it’ll very likely do in the next week, and also certifying it as a major blockbuster in Japan.

The next weekend will see JUJUTSU KAISEN 0 expand to 4DX and MX4D screens on February 5, as well as start its third round of theatrical benefits, giving fans of the film more reason to go back and watch the film again.

Crunchyroll and Funimation are bringing the film to international audiences, with the North America premiere on March 18. The anime film had the second-biggest opening weekend in Japanese box office history. It was announced at the end of the JUJUTSU KAISEN TV anime series, which is streaming on Crunchyroll.
