#Judge says Rudy Giuliani’s ex-wife’s $260K suit was ‘faulty’

“Judge says Rudy Giuliani’s ex-wife’s $260K suit was ‘faulty'”

Judith Giuliani’s claims that her former husband Rudy owes her $260,000 under a divorce agreement is “faulty,” a Manhattan judge found Monday — as he attempted to wrangle the feuding exes during a chaotic court hearing.

Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Michael Katz concluded that by his calculations, the remainder of what the 78-year-old former New York City mayor owes his ex-wife is roughly $14,000 for his half of their country club fees.

In her August lawsuit, Judith, 67, asked Katz to hold Rudy Giuliani in civil contempt, claiming he fell behind on $262,000 in alimony, country club fees and condo payments under the terms of their 2019 divorce settlement.

“Why was there such a big discrepancy from the original amount you claimed?” Katz asked Judith’s lawyer in court Monday. “It seems everyone’s record-keeping in this case is very poor.”

Her attorney Dror Bikel argued that Judith is still owed over $100,000, saying a $30,000 check Rudy sent her recently bounced.

The judge acknowledged that Rudy owed his ex money — much of which he has since paid — but said Judith had claimed far more than what she was actually owed in the end.

“I think the motion was faulty to begin with because it sought to recover monies that are not owed,” Katz said of Judith’s lawsuit.

Throughout the hearing, the judge repeatedly pressed both sides for the precise amount they believed Rudy still owes.

“I think both parties have made this more amorphous and confusing than it needs to be,” Katz said.

Rudy told the judge he would submit additional financial documentation to prove he is almost settled up with Judith.

“You’re a lawyer,” Katz said. “You’re way past any deadline.”

The judge also chided both Rudy and Judith for repeated interruptions throughout the hearing.

“Please don’t interrupt me,” Katz said to Rudy at one point.

“You seem to think what you have to say is more important than what I have to say. I disagree,” Katz said to Judith — who tried to interject at the judge’s lower calculation of Rudy’s debt.

“I don’t know why everyone thinks this is a free-for-all,” Katz said.

Katz said he would file an order with the figure that Rudy owes Judith.

“I’m going to direct that [Rudy Giuliani] makes those payments and remain current under any other obligations,” Katz said. “And I’m hoping this is the last time you have to sit through any kind of these exercises.”

After the hearing, Judith’s lawyers said they would be filing a new motion arguing that she is still owed over $100,000.

Judith told The Post outside court that she agreed to settle the case for far less than a judge ordered.

“I said, ‘OK. We will settle the case but you have to do what you agreed to do,’” Judith said. “He has yet, to this date, to live up to that agreement.”

“That’s what’s painful.”

Meanwhile, Rudy spoke extensively to reporters outside court about the divorce case and separately went on a rant about politics and how he was recently cleared in criminal cases.

“The judge was very fair,” he said. “The judge has seen the reason why I am not married to her.

“Here’s the thing I know about marriages,” he continued. “50/50. I was wrong, she was wrong. I paid her.”

Judith filed for divorce in 2018 after 15 years of marriage. The pair fought bitterly over their fortune, which is estimated at over $30 million.

Rudy Giuliani has faced a slew of legal problems including election-related ethics charges and a suit by Dominion Voting Systems for claiming the company rigged the 2020 presidential election.

Last month, Manhattan prosecutors said Giuliani won’t face criminal charges after the feds raided his apartment and seized a slew of electronic devices.
