It’s judgment day for Judy

After 25 years Judge Judy’s pushing off CBS onto Amazon. So how smart is she?

“I’m a Brooklyn girl. Brooklyn girls have street smarts. If not academically gifted we know how to cross the street in two-way traffic. Do something bad and being smart, you can turn it around.

“Early on I’m in a store and I heard one lady say, ‘I watch Judge Judy but I don’t understand what it is about her.’ Her friend said, ‘She doesn’t drone on. She gets to the point.’ I told myself, ‘I’m no entertainer. I’m a judge on the bench. I don’t care whether people like me or not as long as they watch.

“My personality’s natural to me even if you don’t think it’s a judicial demeanor. Others with judicial demeanors tried this type show. They’re all off the air. I’m about what justice feels, tastes and smells like. A bad guy, I’m prepared to dress you down. Nobody thought Alan Alda really did surgery on ‘MASH.’ He was convincing. But his was a TV program. Mine’s justice.

“I actually believed I was a big deal when I graduated law school. My father was my cheerleader. He told me I could be whatever I wanted to be. In my junior high school yearbook, June 21, 1957, he wrote: ‘I expect I should be able to address you someday as “Dear doctor,” “Dear teacher” or “Dear star.” ’ ”

OK, so what can you say about your new show?

“I’ve chosen a different robe color, I’ve eliminated the lace collar, and I’m contractually bound not to say anything else.”

She also didn’t talk about her new Shih Tzu puppy. A female puppy. And what did Judy name her?

Joey. Judge Judy named her baby girl dog Joey — same name as my late husband.

French boasted

Up now for Matt Damon is “Stillwater.” And it runs deep. American oil-rig roughneck goes to France to save his estranged daughter in prison on murder charges.

Damon: “The man’s trying to repair his relationship with his daughter. He’s made mistakes as a father. Goes to visit her behind bars. Works to try to exonerate her. Believes she’s innocent. But he’s in over his head.

“We shot in Marseilles. It’s about a guy from Oklahoma who’s feeling increasingly powerless. This is a new world he’s moving into really fast and it’s leaving him behind. He has value and wants to contribute. But feeling helpless his rage comes out.”

The prison scenes proved brutal for him and co-star Abigail Breslin, who started acting as a child, stole “Little Miss Sunshine” in 2006 and whom Matt thought so excellent an actress that he admittedly stayed in awe.

“Abby drives the whole movie. Her prison scenes were incredibly difficult. We relied on her to be an engine for my character and to keep him going.

“This movie works as a a love letter to the beautiful city Marseilles. These films aren’t made for people to watch on their phones. They’re meant to be enjoyed in as large a format as possible.”

“Stillwater” splashes onto big screens July 30.

Lookie at ‘Loki’

Should you care, Owen Wilson has joined Marvel Cinematic Universe. His thing is called “Loki.” Show stars Tom Hiddleston who also exec produced.

Owen: “It’s my first time in the Marvel universe. They once spoke to me about ‘Iron Man,’ ‘Captain America,’ even ‘Hulk,’ and I was, ‘Well . . . I don’t know.’ With this Hiddleston took me through everything. His ‘Loki Lectures’ even worked into our dialogue. I now look forward to the heavy lifting.”
