#Journalist Andy Ngo sues Antifa for ‘campaign of terror’ after alleged assault

A conservative journalist filed a lawsuit against the far-left militant groups known as antifa for waging a “campaign of terror and harassment” against him — days after President Trump blamed them for inciting violence during anti-police protests, according to reports.

The lawsuit, filed Thursday by attorney Harmeet Dhillon on behalf of Andy Ngo, described Rose City Antifa as a racketeering operation under the Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act, the Washington Times reported.

Ngo seeks $900,000 in damages, according to the suit, which was filed in Oregon Circuit Court.

He claims he was assaulted, stalked, threatened and robbed by members of the group in Portland, suffering a brain hemorrhage after being assaulted in June 2019, the news outlet reported.

“I am hoping that this marks a turning point, that militants belonging to a criminal movement can no longer depend on the anonymity … to get away with their crimes,” said Ngo, who is with The Post Millennial after a writing stint with the online publication Quillette.

The San Francisco-based Dhillon, of the Center for American Liberty, told “The Ingraham Angle” on Thursday that she filed the first-ever lawsuit against Antifa to people “who are threatened by these criminals,” Fox News reported.

Dhillon said that Ngo “continues to be stalked” and claimed that Portland authorities “continue to do nothing” to protect his safety.

“By the way, that includes the United States attorney who I spoke to at the beginning of the process,” she told host Laura Ingraham. “We waited several months and this is a job for law enforcement because … law enforcement has the tools to go surveil and get warrants and all of that.

“It should have been law enforcement doing this action, not me, but because they refuse to do that, we cannot let Andy continue to live under these threats,” Dhillon said.

Ngo, who has long drawn attention to Antifa, said he was targeted and suffered brain injuries when he was assaulted while covering the protests in Portland a year ago.

Viral video of the attack led to national calls for investigations as well as a subsequent rally led by the Proud Boys, a right-wing group that has been designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Antifa — short for “anti-fascists”— is an umbrella term for leftist militant groups that confront or resist neo-Nazis and white supremacists at rallies.

Dhillon said the timing of the lawsuit was coincidental to recent protests over the death of George Floyd while in custody of Minneapolis cops.

She said she waited months to files the suit in the futile hope that authorities would bring criminal charges against Ngo’s attackers.

Spokesmen for Portland police and state and federal prosecutors did not respond to requests for comment by The Associated Press on their probes or criticism from Ngo and Dhillon that they failed to act.
