#Jordan gets challenger for Speaker as House GOP scrambles: Live coverage

House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) will again run for Speaker, after narrowly losing the nomination to Majority Leader Steve Scalise just days ago.

His challenger will be Rep. Austin Scott (R-Ga.), who filed to run on Friday.

House Republicans are preparing to gather again, after a rollercoaster week.

Scalise (R-La.) bowed out late Thursday when it became apparent he would not garner the 217 votes needed to earn the gavel. Internal division and opposition led to his withdrawal, coming just a day after he won the party’s nomination.

Meanwhile, the House is paralyzed and unable to push through legislation as war breaks out in Israel and the clock ticks closer to a Nov. 17 government funding deadline.
