Those who tuned into Complex’s Everyday Struggle circa 2017 to 2018 likely witnessed co-hosts Akademiks and Joe Budden constantly at odds with each other. The pair often did not get along, which Budden later admitted was due to him not liking the controversial rap personality.

However, the duo stuck it out for as long as they could because they knew their hostility towards each other would make for good entertainment. Budden then abruptly left Everyday Struggle in 2018 over compensation disputes to go start his now esteemed podcast The Joe Budden Podcast, and the show shut down entirely a few years later.

Akademiks took to Instagram on Monday (April 25) to announce that after nearly five years apart, the conflicted hosts would soon be reuniting on each other’s podcasts later this week.

Reunited @JoeBudden,” Akademiks wrote with three heart emoji’s over a clip of the upcoming episode. “Tune into our both podcasts in the next week or so.”

The reunited duo will have a lot to talk about considering Akademiks has openly said he believes he had something to do with Everyday Struggle’s demise. During a Twitch live stream following the show’s cancelation in 2020, Akademiks cited his suspension for calling John Legend’s wife Chrissy Teigen a “bitch” and his feud with Freddie Gibbs as being two of the reasons the show was ultimately canned.

“It was a very weird moment with the Chrissy Teigen thing, but it wasn’t only that,” he said on the livestream at the time. “I received calls from them about other content that they felt I probably shouldn’t been engaged in.

“I felt like it was a spit in the face when Complex was trying to tell me I should ‘shut the fuck up’ … and they awarded some sort of award to Freddie Gibbs, even though he was saying he couldn’t wait ’til I die so he could spit on my casket.

He added, “This is what I also said about Everyday Struggle. Joe [Budden] once said it, too, but I also agree: You don’t hire a controversial figure to not have controversy.”

Needless to say, the sit-down will be one for the books.
