#Jets’ run game shows flashes of big-play ability

#Jets’ run game shows flashes of big-play ability

Highlights from Tuesday’s Jets practice:

Good

The offense held the advantage in 11-on-11 action, with the line dictating physicality enough to irritate defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. Le’Veon Bell, Frank Gore and La’Mical Perine all broke off big runs, with Bell following Mekhi Becton and Gore running through a lane opened up between Alex Lewis and Connor McGovern.

Bad

Sam Darnold fit a 23-yard touchdown pass through tight coverage to Jamison Crowder, but, as the defense was quick to point out, the offense had 12 players on the field. So, if it was a game, throw the penalty flag and take the points off the board. The kinks of no preseason games.

Caught my eye

Most of the offense and defense took a breather with special teams on the field, but defensive line coach Andre Carter devoted a few minutes toward 1-on-1 instruction on hand-to-hand combat and power moves with Quinnen Williams. The demonstration ended with Carter tapping Williams on the shoulder to show he was pleased with his listening.
