#Jets’ James Robinson likely to be active against Vikings

“Jets’ James Robinson likely to be active against Vikings”

For one week at least, the Jets’ running back issue may have worked itself out.

James Robinson, who was upset upon becoming a healthy scratch last week, likely will be active in Minnesota because Michael Carter is doubtful with an ankle injury.

Carter, who has received the largest chunk of carries since Breece Hall was lost for the season in Week 7, has not practiced all week, though head coach Robert Saleh said he is “getting himself prepared.” Carter suffered a low-ankle sprain in Sunday’s win over the Bears.

Robinson, whom the Jets traded for Oct. 25, missed Sunday’s game because the Jets dressed Zonovan “Bam” Knight for the first time, to go along with Carter and Ty Johnson.

On Wednesday, Robinson told ESPN he “didn’t come here not to play. Obviously, they brought me here for a reason. I don’t expect anything unless I work for it, and I’ve been working my ass off. Me not playing pisses me off.”

Approached Friday, Robinson signaled he didn’t have time and exited the locker room.

“He’s going through stuff, being traded here and all that,” running backs coach Taylor Embree said Thursday. “Just harping to him this is by committee, and it will be week to week in this system because you see what it is — some weeks you need Bam, some weeks you need the hammer, some weeks you need the lightning.

“We talked [Thursday] and I told him, ‘I’d be mad if you weren’t mad you weren’t playing. I want guys who want to play.’ He wants to play, and he wants to help the team win.”

Without Robinson, the Jets ran 32 times for 158 yards against a poor Chicago defense, including Knight’s 14-carries-for-69-yards debut.

“Bam just showed me that he’s been working hard, he’s been locked in to the game plan,” Embree said. “He was ready for his opportunity.”

For a second straight week, Zach Wilson will be inactive. Saleh said Joe Flacco will back up Mike White.

Safety Ashtyn Davis (hamstring) will be out Sunday. Tackle Cedric Ogbuehi (groin) also did not practice and is doubtful for Sunday.

With Ogbuehi in doubt, Saleh said it is “a possibility” that George Fant (knee) is activated from injured reserve.

“We’ll see,” Saleh said. “We’ll hold on to that one until we have to, but we’re going to give Ced every opportunity he can to get back.”

Tackle Duane Brown (shoulder), tight end Kenny Yeboah (calf) and cornerback D.J. Reed (who had not practiced earlier this week with a non-injury related status) were full participants in practice.
