#Jets finally giving Denzel Mims a chance

Celebrate, Jets fans.

Denzel Mims, the team’s second-round pick a year ago who has been inactive for the last two games, will play on Sunday, coach Robert Saleh said on Friday before practice.

“He’s going to get some opportunities,” Saleh said. “Hopefully he takes advantage of it.”

The speedy 6-foot-3 Mims has become a hot topic on social media amid the floundering Jets offense that is averaging just 6.6 points per game through three losses this season. He was buried on the depth chart during training camp, received just three snaps on the season opener and was inactive the next two games. Saleh had said the reason for that was Mims needed to learn all three receiver positions and didn’t play on special teams.

The Jets really didn’t have a choice but to play Mims with receivers Elijah Moore and Jeff Smith both out with concussions. The other option would’ve been to promote a receiver from the practice squad.

The Jets take on the Titans on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
