#Jet company selling $28K socially distant ‘Wedding in the Sky’

The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has been devastating to lovebirds who have been forced to cancel, downsize, implement safety precautions at or go digital with their nuptials — but a private aircraft chartering company thinks it has a solution.

Air Charter Service is offering a “Wedding in the Sky” package for couples who can afford to socially distance in the clouds. The two-hour sky-high experience takes place at 30,000 feet and includes an airport chauffeur to drive the newlyweds to and from their choice of airport. The package also includes Champagne, personalized wedding favors, canapés, a cabin crew member officiant, flower arrangements and catered food and drink aboard a plane that seats up to 16 people, reported Travel + Leisure.

“Sadly, many couples have had to abandon their original wedding plans due to COVID-19. At Air Charter Service, we wanted to offer a solution to enable our clients to still have their dream wedding celebrations,” group private jets director Andy Christie said in a statement.

The adventure has a starting price tag of $28,000. For those working with a slightly smaller budget, Air Charter Service also now has a “Just the Two of Us,” elopement package, beginning at $18,000. For those looking to spend more money for additional perks, bespoke packages are also available.

“The flight route can be prearranged, so the aircraft can fly over areas of significance to those who are celebrating their marriage,” Christie added.

Some couples have found more down-to-earth alternatives for COVID-safe weddings: namely, their own backyards. Still, others have simply taken an ax to their guest list to keep it well within headcount limits. Indeed, according to one August survey, 48 percent of Americans planning a wedding said they’d rather shrink their guest list and have their nuptials now, rather than wait for the perfect day.
