#Jersey Shore cop arrested for sexually abusing juvenile

A Jersey Shore cop who once received a “key to Ocean City” is charged with sexually assaulting a minor.

Ocean City Sergeant Tyrone Rolls, 50, turned himself in at the Cape May Prosecutor’s Office Wednesday, according to a press release.

Rolls was charged with aggravated sexual assault, aggravated assault of a domestic violence victim, official misconduct and endangering the welfare of a child, prosecutors said.

If convicted on all charges, Rolls could be sentenced to 65 years in prison, according to the release.

Rolls was arrested after special victims unit investigators found he had a sexual relationship with a juvenile, the release stated.

The sergeant suspect coached local boys and girls youth sports teams in the community and was given “key to the city” from Mayor Jay Gillian in 2017, The Star Ledger reported.

Rolls excelled at sports in his youth as well, winning multiple awards for track and football in high school and college, the newspaper revealed.

“Tyrone Rolls has been a mentor and role model for children and families in the area through his role as a police officer, coach and well-respected lifelong member of this community,” a plaque at Ocean City High School reads.

He is reportedly now behind bars and on administrative leave from the Ocean City Police Department.
