Jennifer Lopez Kicks Off 2025 AMAs Dancing to Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan Hits

Jennifer Lopez kicked off the 2025 American Music Awards with an extensive six-minute dance number soundtracked to biggest songs of the past year.
The “On The Floor” singer began the night with her own hit “Dance Again” before launching into a dance performance featuring songs from various nominated artists. Lopez commenced the hybrid number to the tune of Kendrick Lamar’s “squabble up,” before transitioning into including Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song,” Bruno Mars and Rosé’s “APT.”, Post Malone’s “I Had Some Help,” Chappell Roan’s “Hot To Go!,” Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” and Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things,” among others.
During the middle of her performance, Lopez also kissed several of her backup dancers as Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control” played in the background.
Lopez is pulling double duty Monday night, acting as host Monday evening along with her role as one of the award show’s many performers.
“Tonight, the spotlight belongs to you because this is the world’s largest fan voting award show where you decide the winners,” Lopez told the crowd during her monologue after the performance. “And this year, yes, there were more votes than ever before.”
Janet Jackson is set to be honored with the Icon Award later Monday evening, and she’ll be performing her first television performance in seven years. Previously, the “That’s the Way Love Goes” singer received the Billboard Music Awards Icon Award in 2018, where she performed a medley of “Nasty,” “If” and “Throb.”
Rod Stewart is another special honoree at the night’s ceremony, receiving the lifetime achievement award. The 2025 AMAs marked Stewart’s first time he was on the AMAs stage in over two decades since his last appearance in 2004. Heading into Monday night, Lamar led this year’s nominees with 10 nominations, followed closely by Malone, Eilish, Roan and Shaboozey.
The AMAs are produced by Dick Clark Productions. DCP is owned by Penske Media Corporation, The Hollywood Reporter‘s parent company, in a subsidiary joint venture between Penske Media and Eldridge. Check out the star-studded arrivals and the night’s full list of winners too.
