#Jeff Van Drew warns Biden will be ‘puppet’ president in RNC speech

New Jersey Rep. Jeff Van Drew, who made waves last year when he defected from the Democratic Party mid-term to join the GOP, said he quit after radical progressives took over the party he once loved, in a stirring speech at the 2020 Republican National Convention.

“Imagine how I felt seeing members of ‘The Squad’ quickly take control of the Democratic Party just weeks after being elected,” Van Drew said, referring to the foursome of far-left young female lawmakers.

“Democratic leaders told me that I had to vote for impeachment or my life would be made difficult. I’m from South Jersey, and you better be coming to me with more tan just loud words and empty threats. I voted no on impeachment and it was an easy call,” he said.

The 67-year-old Van Drew, who represents South Jersey including Atlantic City, was elected to Congress in 2018 as a Democrat.

But in October 2019, Van Drew was one of two House Democrats to vote against the beginning of the impeachment inquiry into Trump.

Two months later, Van Drew hopped to the Republican Party calling it the “honorable thing,” and was welcomed with open arms by Trump.

Speaking on the fourth and final night of the convention, Van Drew said he was proud to support Trump and warned Joe Biden would be a “puppet” for the progressives in his party.

“When the Democrats tried to order me around, I was ready, willing and bale to say, ‘I’ve had enough with their radical, socialist agenda. Do you really believe Joe Biden is ready, willing and, most of all, able to do the same?” he asked.

Van Drew is not the only speaker with Democratic roots to stump for Trump at the RNC.

On Monday’s opening night, Democratic George state Rep. Vernon Jones delivered a blistering broadside of his own party, saying that Dems have developed “a dangerous tolerance for people who attack others, destroy property, and terrorize our communities.”

And Tuesday, Eveleth, Minn. Mayor Bob Vlaisavljevich, a self-described “lifelong Democrat” thanked Trump for standing up for his small iron-ore mining town where Democrats failed.
