#Jeezy Admits Therapy Couldn’t Save Jeannie Mai Marriage
On Tuesday (November 7), the Atlanta rapper sat down for a candid, hour-long interview with actress Nia Long to promote his new double album I Might Forgive… But I Don’t Forget, where he shared why he feels his marriage with the talk show host isn’t salvageable.
“This has not been an easy journey,” Jeezy admitted. “I can tell you that I’m saddened. I can tell you that I’m disappointed. I can tell you that I’m uneasy.
“Again, God has put me in a different path. And that path is going to entail for me to take care or myself and to love myself and to be in the best situation that I can thrive as someone who has been through all the things that I’ve been through.”
In the same breath, the 46-year-old explained that he and Mai attempted to mend their marriage by way of therapy but were unsuccessful in their efforts.
“I can only be responsible for myself. I can only do what I can do,” he added. “I can’t expect someone else to do what I’m doing.”
Although details regarding the root cause of their split have been kept private, Jeezy explained in a recent statement that he still has love and respect for Jeannie Mai.
“The decision to end this chapter in my life was not made impulsively and comes with a heavy heart,” he said late last month. “Despite this, my love and respect for Jeannie remains and the time we spent together holds a cherished place in my heart.”
He continued: “Our beautiful daughter is the best gift from our relationship, and I am committed to assuring she feels the love and stability she deserves. During this period, I kindly request that you respect our family’s privacy as we focus on healing.”
In 2021, Jeezy and Mai jumped the broom in a backyard ceremony at their Georgia home. The following year, the pair welcomed a daughter, Monaco.
However, this past September, Jeezy shocked fans when he filed for divorce after two-and-a-half years of marriage.
