JAY-Z’s transition into fatherhood has been a sight to behold. The birth of his daughter Blue Ivy changed him for the better. During his recent visit to The Shop: Uninterrupted, JAY-Z spoke on being a father and how he had to learn an important skill for the safety of his child.

“It’s amazing. It’s a very grounding thing,” he said when asked about becoming a parent. “I didn’t learn how to swim until Blue was born. There goes everything you need to know. This is a metaphor for our relationship. If she ever fell in the water and I couldn’t get her, I couldn’t even fathom that thought. I gotta learn how to swim. That’s it. That was the beginning of our relationship.”
