#Jaw-dropping video shows heron swallow alligator whole

Wild Florida photos show a bird gobbling up a live gator in a jaw-dropping animal kingdom switcheroo that went viral Wednesday.

The hungry heron turned the juvenile gator into a swamp-side snack — snapping it up the reptile with its pointy beak and swallowing it whole at Lake Apopka near Orlando, according to wildlife photographer Danny Gilliam.

“Crazy sequence while out and about Lake Apopka Florida. Great Blue Heron eating a large juvenile alligator,” said Gilliam, who posted the photo series on his Facebook page.

Images  of the bird’s brutal breakfast raked in more 87,000 shares — and plenty of fans Wednesday.

“What good fortune to witness this ruggedly beautiful meal,” one observer wrote. Another added, “Holy cow! That is beyond incredible!!
