As expected, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train swept the Japanese box office with overwhelming force. The 117-minute film earned a gigantic 3.354 billion yen on 2.51 million admissions on its first Saturday and Sunday, hugely surpassing the distributor Toho's previous record of 1.62 billion yen marked by Yo-kai Watch: The Movie in December 2014.

The highly-anticipated sequel film to the 26-episode Tv anime in 2019 was released in 365 theaters in Japan on 16, 2020.
