#Jamie Foxx Responds To Sexual Assault Lawsuit

Jamie Foxx has denied claims of sexual assault in a recent lawsuit that accused him of groping a woman without permission.

Regarding the incident, which allegedly happened in 2015, Foxx called the lawsuit “frivolous.”

The singer and actor’s spokesperson said in a statement: “The alleged incident never happened. In 2020, this individual filed a nearly identical lawsuit in Brooklyn. That case was dismissed shortly thereafter.

“The claims are no more viable today than they were then. We are confident they will be dismissed again. And once they are, Mr. Foxx intends to pursue a claim for malicious prosecution against this person and her attorneys for re-filing this frivolous action.”

According to the lawsuit, the alleged assault took place around 1 a.m. in August 2015 at the rooftop bar and restaurant Catch NYC.

The lawsuit claims that Jamie Foxx appeared intoxicated and agreed to a photo with the woman, allegedly telling her: “Sure, baby, anything for you.”

The Collateral star is alleged to have led the woman to a more secluded part of the restaurant before touching her breasts and putting her hands in her underwear without her consent.

The lawsuit claims the incident stopped when the woman’s friend came looking for her.

As well as the Oscar-winner, the lawsuit names Catch NYC and its owner as co-defendants, claiming they were in breach of their duty of care. The owners of Catch have yet to respond to the filing.

The lawsuit against Foxx was filed under New York’s Adult Survivors Act, which provides a one-year window for sexual assault plaintiffs to file civil claims, regardless of the statute of limitations. That window closed on Thursday (November 23) and has led to a flurry of lawsuits claiming sexual assaults.

Other high profile figures to have lawsuits filed against them because of the act include Diddy, who has faced three separate sexual assault suits in the space of a week, including one from his former girlfriend Cassie which was settled the following day. Diddy vehemently denies any wrongdoing.

Interscope Records founder Jimmy Iovine has also been accused of sexual assault, as has music executive L.A. Reid, Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose, Bill Cosby, New York mayor Eric Adams and former president Donald Trump.

Foxx was previously accused of sexual assault in 2002 and again denied the allegations. No charges or arrests were ever made.
