James Gunn Releases ‘Superman’ CinemaCon Sneak Peek Online

48 hours after Superman’s dog Krypto charmed the crowd at CinemaCon, filmmaker James Gunn has released the footage that he brought to the Las Vegas convention.
The new look at Superman follows a trailer released in December, and comes ahead of Gunn’s promised Summer of Superman — season long, full-court press on DC Studios’ first movie movie. The film’s success will help determine the fate of the fledgling Warner Bros. Discovery division. DC has an ambition slate of projects in development, with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and Clayface dated for next year at the box office, as well as TV shows such as Lanterns and Peacemaker season two coming up.
At Cinemacon, Gunn and stars David Corenswet (Superman), Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane) and Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor) shared stories from set, while DC Studios co-chief Peter Safran talked up the inspirations for Krypto, noting the canine was inspired by Gunn’s real dog, Ozo.
Gunn pushed back a little on the idea that Ozu is hero material, though.
“Ozu is terrible to anyone who comes near him,” Gunn joked, before recalling getting him from the rescue shelter: “He kind of looked like my old dog on crack.” He added, “I said, ‘That dog looks funny to me, and I like funny things.’”
Superman also stars Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific), Terence Rosemore (Otis), Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner) and María Gabriela de Faría (The Engineer).
