The DVD jacket illustration for the upcoming Sasaki and Miyano OVA, which will be bundled with the manga’s upcoming ninth tankoubon volume, has been released. The illustration features Shoumei Sasaki, Yoshikazu Miyano, Taiga Hirano, and Akira Kagiura.

The OVA, titled “Koi ni Kizuku mae no Chottoshita Hanashi,” sees Miyano and the public morals committee approached by a student who has lost his keychain. In response, Masato Hanzawa, the committee’s president, decides to form a “Lost Item Detective Team” to search for the missing item. The episode will notably feature an appearance from Taiga’s roommate Akira (Nobunaga Shimazaki), who is one of the main characters in the spin-off manga Hirano and Kagiura.

The manga volume that the OVA comes with will be released on July 27

The Sasaki and Miyano anime series premiered in January, while the manga by Shou Harusono began in 2016. A sequel to the anime was announced in late March. The Kadokawa-published manga is serialized on Gene Pixiv and published under the Gene Pixiv Series label. Aside from the anime and Hirano and Kagiura, it has inspired two light novels and a drama CD. 

Yen Press describes the story as:

It all started like a typical old-school boys’ love plotline—bad-boy senior meets adorably awkward underclassman, one of them falls in love, and so on and so forth. But although Miyano is a self-proclaimed boys’ love expert, he hasn’t quite realized…he’s in one himself. Which means it’s up to Sasaki to make sure their story has a happily ever after…!

The anime’s main staff includes Shinji Ishihira (Log Horizon: Destruction of the Round Table) as director, Takahiro Ueno (Fairy Gone episode director) as assistant director, Yoshiko Nakamura (Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle) as series composer, and Maki Fuujī (Our Love Has Always Been 10 Centimeters Apart) as character designer. Studio Deen is the animation production company.

Meanwhile, the cast includes Yuusuke Shirai as Shoumei, Souma Saitou as Yoshikazu, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Taiga, Yuuki Ono as Jirou Okasawara, Yuuma Uchida as Masato, Ryouhei Arai as Tasuke Kuresawa, and Mitsuhiro Ichiki as Gonzaburou Tashiro.
