#J Hus recruits Naira Marley for new song “Militerian”

The English emcee’s third album, Beautiful and Brutal Yard, drops tomorrow.

J Hus has released the third and final single from his third studio LP. The English emcee and singer’s new album, Beautiful and Brutal Yard, drops tomorrow (July 14) via Black Butter. And “Militerian,” featuring Nigerian-British artist Naira Marley, is out now.

The new song — which joins the May solo single “It’s Crazy” and the June Drake collab “Who Told You” on the project’s 19-strong tracklist — is a celebration of Hus and Marley’s shared heritage. “When they ask me where I come from / I tell ’em straight, ‘I’m a African,’” Hus raps proudly on his first verse.

“The gyal love me to the maximum / They need me like a oxygen / Nigerian, Gambian, Militerian, Malian,” he continues, imbuing that final nationality with a faint “r” sound in a shoutout to his featured guest. It’s subtle when listening to the song alone, but it’s illustrated in the track’s TG Omori music video by a quick cut to Marley, who raises both hands in appreciation.
