#’Supergirl’ & the Team Face off Against Lex Luthor in the Season 6 Premiere (PHOTOS)

It’s Kara/Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) versus Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer) when the final season of the CW superhero series begins on March 30.

As you’ll recall, SupergirlSeason 5 ended with Brainiac (Jesse Rath) ready to sacrifice himself to “bottle” Leviathan, but in the premiere, “Rebirth,” the team swoops in to save him, leading to an “epic battle with Gamenmae (guest star Cara Buono),” the logline teases.

Then the focus turns to Lex and stopping him (easier said than done), considering he’s “used the Obsidian platform to brainwash half the world to love him and follow him at all costs, no matter what horrible things he does.” While Lena (Katie McGrath) brings in the entire team — Alex (Chyler Leigh), J’onn (David Harewood), Dreamer (Nicole Maines), Kelly (Azie Tesfai), and Brainiac — to take him down since she knows her brother, it sounds like that might not be enough.

“Supergirl realizes that the only way to truly stop Lex is to sacrifice herself,” the description warns.

While we know that won’t happen — it is the premiere — we do worry how this battle will end. After all, Lex looks a bit too victorious for our taste in the photos below.

While the first part of Supergirl‘s final season begins on March 30, it will take a break when Superman & Lois returns from a brief hiatus (taking back its time slot) on May 18. We’ll then see the end of Kara and her friends and family’s journeys later this summer.
