The 2017 isekai anime In Another World With My Smartphone is getting a second season, a new announcement has revealed. A commemoration illustration from the light novels’ illustrator Eiji Usatsuka was also released.

The Hobby Japan-published light novel series is written by Batora Fuyuhara and published under the HJ Novels label. It began in 2015 and has 25 volumes as of February 2022. The story began as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2013. J-Novel Club publishes In Another World With My Smartphone in English.

Crunchyroll describes the anime as:

After dying as a result of God’s mistake, the main character finds himself in a parallel world, where he begins his second life. His only possessions are the body that God gave back to him and a smartphone that works even in this new world. As he meets all kinds of new people and forges new friendships, he ends up learning the secret to this world. He inherits the legacy of an ancient civilization and works together with the kings of some very laid-back countries on his carefree travels through this new world.

The main staff of the first season includes Masayuki Yanase (In The Land of Leadale) as director; Natsuko Takahashi as series composer and scriptwriter (Farewell, My Dear Cramer); and Toshihide Masutate (In The Land of Leadale co-character designer), Masahiro Sekiguchi (In The Land of Leadale animation director), and Miyako Nishida (Tomodachi Game chief animation director) as character designers. Ashi Productions (then known as Production Reed) produced the show.
