President Trump on Thursday said he wants his 14-year-old son Barron to return to school soon.

Barron Trump’s private school in Maryland, St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, recently said it will have online-only classes next month, despite the president urging schools to reopen amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“I’d like to have him go back and I understand they’re gonna go — they’re doing computer for a little while, they’re doing the laptop deal. And, you know, it’s too bad,” Trump told The Post during an exclusive Oval Office interview.

“I’d prefer that he go back. They’re doing it, I think, just a little bit — they’re delaying it a little bit, right? From what I understand, my son’s school, they will be delaying it. I just heard that, which is too bad, which is too bad,” Trump said.

The president on Wednesday said that schools must reopen because “virtual is not as good as being there — virtual is just not the same thing.”

Asked if would be hiring a tutor for Barron, who is set to start ninth grade, Trump said, “probably will. Either that, or I don’t know — he likes the school very much. You know, so we just sort of leave him at a school he likes, and it’s a good school and they’ve done a very nice job.”

“I think they’re doing a delayed start,” Trump said. “I don’t run the school, and they’ve done a really good job. But I would prefer that he went back right at the beginning, if it was up to me.”

Trump administration health officials last month outlined recommended best practices for reopening schools, encouraging masks, lots of cleaning and the strategic limiting of social interactions.

Administration officials argue that children are less susceptible to the virus, though Trump urged elderly teachers to stay home.
