#Husband surprises wife with massive T-Rex instead of gnome she asked for

A UK man gave his wife quite the scare when she asked him to buy a garden gnome — and he instead installed a ginormous, 200-pound, 11.5-foot statue of a Tyrannosaurus Rex in their home garden to her displeasure.

Adrian Shaw, 52, of Leamington Spa, said he bought the $2,124 dinosaur replica after his wife of six years, Deborah, asked him to “make the garden look nice,” Metro UK reported.

“She suggested I clear away the weeds and maybe put a gnome on the patio which got me thinking,” he said.

“I thought nothing could possibly look nicer in the garden than a 3.5 meter replica of a rampaging T-Rex, so I bought one.”

Shaw had the dinosaur — which he named Dave — delivered and even hired a crane to lift it one day into the garden while his wife was working late.

She returned when it was too dark to see their new garden dweller, so Shaw decided he would surprise her the next morning with his purchase.

“I’d even set up my camera to capture her reaction, which I was expecting to be one of sheer delight,” he said.

“She loves the Jurassic Park films and watches all the David Attenborough documentaries, so I thought I couldn’t go wrong with the purchase really.”

But Deborah later opened up the door to let out their dog and came face-to-face with the giant dinosaur.

“I could hear the screams and went running downstairs but even after the initial shock, she continued to scream,” he said.

But despite his wife not being fond of their new outdoor furnishing, he insists Dave is not facing extinction.

“I’ve fallen in love with Dave though and he’s not going anywhere,” he said. “I’m sure Deborah will understand and grow to love him just as much as I do.”
