How to watch the ball drop in a year that’s dropped the ball.

Times Square will be unfortunately closed to the public tonight over coronavirus concerns, marking the first time the locale’s been empty on New Year’s Eve since 1907.

However, that doesn’t mean that NYE revelers won’t have a ball: The iconic orb will still drop at midnight as part of a broadcast event.

How to watch the livestream

The world can witness New York City’s annual NYE spectacle from home by tuning into a six-hour commercial-free webcast presented by official Times Square New Year’s Eve co-organizers Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment.

The virtual ball drop ceremony will once again be hosted by Jonathan Bennett and will feature performances by Jennifer Lopez, Cyndi Lauper, Jimmie Allen, Machine Gun Kelly, Andra Day, Gloria Gaynor, the USO Show Troupe and the Waffle Crew.

Keeping in line with COVID-19 precautions, the Times Square 2021 webcast will be off-limits to the public and adhere to New York state health protocols.

The annual event will kick off at 6 p.m. and conclude at 12:15 a.m.

Viewers can stream the ball drop coverage live at TimesSquareNYC.org, NewYearsEve.nyc, Livestream.com/2021, TimesSquareBall.net and via Facebook Live.
