“#How to watch case against Derek Chauvin”
The trial against Derek Chauvin, the former police officer accused of killing George Floyd, will kick off Monday morning in Minneapolis at 9 a.m. local time and be accessible via livestream.
CourtTV will have cameras in the courtroom and will provide “live, gavel-to-gavel” coverage from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. EST.
The livestream of the trial on CourtTV can be viewed through this link and also on streaming devices like Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV and Vizio smart TVs.
It will also be accessible on streaming services like YouTube TV, Pluto TV, FreeCast, XUMO, Select TV, KlowdTV, NKT.tv, Redbox, and Local Now.
The trial will also be streamed by Law & Crime through this link.
Inside the courtroom, space will be severely limited because of social-distancing requirements. In addition to the judge and required court personnel, Chauvin and his lawyers will be in the courtroom, as well as a team of prosecutors from the state attorney general’s office and special attorneys assigned to the case.
Only one member each of Floyd’s and Chauvin’s families will be allowed in the room at a time and two seats are reserved for members of the media, who will rotate pool duties.
Chauvin, 45, is charged with second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in Floyd’s death. If convicted on all counts, he faces decades in prison.
The former cop’s attorneys are expected to paint him as a decorated police officer doing a dangerous job who was using a technique he was trained and permitted to use.
The prosecution, led by Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, is expected to rely heavily on the video that captured Floyd’s arrest, and showed him screaming that he couldn’t breathe while Chauvin knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes.
