Trailblazer is the protagonist of Honkai Star Rail so most of their developments are tied to the story progression. Likewise, you will be able to unlock their Fire element by following the Jarilo VI quest line.

During its climax, you face Cocolia in her ‘Mother of Deception’ form, who will outmatch your strength. As a result, your Trailblazer gets stabbed with her sword which sends them to a sub-conscious realm. Inside, you will find the weapon rooted to the ground and by pulling it Qlipoth bestows upon you ‘The Preservation’ path, unlocking the Fire element.

Ever-Burning Amber (Skill): On cast, it increases the Trailblazer’s DMG Reduction by 40/50/52%. Additionally, it provides a stack of Magma Will, with a 100% base chance to Taunt all enemies for a single turn.
War-Flaming Lance (Ultimate): Using the ability Trailblazer deals Fire DMG equal to 50/100/110% of ATK plus 75/150/165% of DEF to all opponents. It also enhances the next basic attack to not cost Magma Will stack.

Furthermore, the Trailblazer’s Talent and Technique are catered towards increasing their shielding, which stacks on their DEF stat.

The 2-piece increases the wearer’s DEF by 12%.
The 4-piece increases their shield’s damage absorption by 20%.

For Light Cone, the ‘Moment of Victory’ is your best pick as its passive increases the wearer’s DEF by 24% and Effect Hit Rate by 24%. Additionally, the wearer gets an increased chance of getting focused by the enemy. When that happens their DEF will be increased by an extra 24% until the turn ends.
