Scottie Scheffler just scored the biggest Masters Tournament payout in history.
The 2022 Masters Tournament set a new prize record this year, as the total purse money at stake for golfers ballooned to $15 million in total, up from last year’s $11.5 million. And Scheffler will take home $2.7 million for winning his first Masters Tournament by three strokes on Sunday, which is several hundred thousand dollars more than the $2.07 million grand prize that the 2021 winner received.
The Masters win adds to an already great year for Scheffler’s professional golf earnings.
According to sports contract and earnings database Spotrac, Scheffler has made $14,901,992 on the PGA Tour, with about half of that amount coming in 2022.

What’s more, all eyes were on his big win. Preliminary data from Sports Media Watch showed an average of 3.3 million viewers tuning in on ESPN during the opening two days of the 2022 Masters tournament, which is up 31% from last year, and the network’s highest viewership number for the Masters dating back to 2018.
The Masters Tournament also welcomed back its biggest star in Tiger Woods, who was by-far the most wagered on player at the tournament by a wide margin. Woods made the cut, but ultimately finished 13 strokes over par.
Scheffler was overjoyed in the moments following his Masters win.
“That’s the coolest part about this whole deal,” Scheffler said. “This is such a fun golf course. It’s such a fun piece of property. I mean, it’s Augusta National. It’s about as cool as it gets. It’s so fun to play. I just can’t believe that I can come back for a lifetime and get to enjoy this golf course.”
