“#Mick Jagger, Dave Grohl drop surprise post-pandemic anthem”
You can’t always get what you want in dire times like these — and these two rock music legends know all about it.
Mick Jagger and Dave Grohl have joined forces for a head-banging post-pandemic anthem — a surprise single that references many of the symbols and controversies we’ve come to associate with the era of COVID-19, including lockdown, face masks, TikTok, Zoom, quarantine weight gain and anti-vaxxers.
The song “Eazy Sleazy” dropped Tuesday via YouTube.
“I wanted to share this song that I wrote about coming out of lockdown, with some much needed optimism — thank you to Dave Grohl for jumping on drums, bass and guitar, it was a lot of fun working with you on this-hope you all enjoy Eazy Sleazy!” the 77-year-old Rolling Stones frontman wrote on Twitter.
The account for the Foo Fighters retweeted Jagger’s announcement, along with a statement, ostensibly written by Grohl himself.
“It’s hard to put into words what recording this song with Sir @MickJagger means to me,” Grohl, 52, wrote. “It’s beyond a dream come true. Just when I thought life couldn’t get any crazier……and it’s the song of the summer, without a doubt!!”
The song celebrates a return to the “garden of earthly delights” as the world emerges from isolation, while it also appears to poke fun at coronavirus conspiracy theorists — particularly the tale that Microsoft founder Bill Gates is using vaccines as a means to implant microchip tracking devices in inoculated individuals.
