“#How Do I Know If I’m Fat Or Big-Boned?”
Generally speaking, human bones are the same size no matter your weight.
How Much Does Bone Density Vary?
An obese man/woman might have less space between their joints, but their bone structure is basically the same.
There’s a standard sized skeleton inside whether you want to believe it or not.
For the most part, bones are the same size. There are minor differences the body: Some people have longer legs, others have wider shoulders, and some people do have slightly thicker bones.
However, we’re talking an extra inch in circumference (note, your “wrist” is two bones, spaced apart), not something that will make you look fatter.
Are You Fat Or Big-Boned?
The only instance where bone structure really matters is in the face. Certain bone structure can make the face seem rounded, larger, or “fat.”
It’s true that you can increase bone density and circumference slightly through resistance training – particularly high impact training.
It’s also true that obese people do tend to get thicker bones to support their mass. But again, those changes aren’t significant enough to really make a visual difference in people’s sizes to the point where someone would be confused between the types of tissue composing someone’s overall appearance.
Chances are if you think you might be overweight (or fat), it might be true.
If it jiggles and you can’t tense it up, it’s likely fat. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, either. Certain fat on your body isn’t bad.
A lot of fat, though, can lead to a long list of health issues.
