#Trump campaign files petition for Georgia recount

President Trump’s campaign announced Saturday that it has filed a petition demanding a recount in Georgia — a day after officials certified Joe Biden’s victory in the state.

Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R-Ga.) on Friday certified the election results, which showed President-elect Joe Biden won the Peach State by more than 12,000 votes following a hand recount.

Trump’s legal team vowed in a statement to fight those results.

“We are focused on ensuring that every aspect of Georgia State Law and the U.S. Constitution are followed so that every legal vote is counted,” Trump’s team said.

“President Trump and his campaign continue to insist on an honest recount in Georgia, which has to include signature matching and other vital safeguards,” the statement continued.

Biden is the first Democratic presidential nominee to win Georgia since 1992.

Trump’s petition is one of many legal actions he took to challenge the election results.

On Saturday, a federal judge in Pennsylvania ruled that the Trump campaign’s voting fraud argument had no basis.

The President’s legal team is also looking to challenge narrow wins in Arizona and Wisconsin.
