Horizon Forbidden West is probably the most widely anticipated game right now after God of War sequel. To fans’ disappointment, both have been delayed quite a lot in past two years. While there are still no updates about God of War Ragnarok, we do have some news about Horizon Forbidden West. Thanks to Gamescom 2021, some amazing reveals about our favorite games were made and Horizon is one of them.

We already knew that Horizon Forbidden West would indeed be delayed. This was majorly because the PlayStation Studios’ head Hermen Hulst, was a little skeptical about finishing the game on time. Months ago, Hulst said, “For Horizon, we think we are on track to release this holiday season. But that isn’t quite certain yet, and we’re working as hard as we can to confirm that to you as soon as we can.”

That is exactly what happened as now at Gamescom 2021, it has been confirmed that Horizon Forbidden West has been delayed to 2022. But don’t get too disheartened as it is not that far away. In fact, Guerilla has confirmed that Horizon Forbidden West is all set to arrive in early 2022.

The basic reason for the delay is of course the global pandemic, so we can cut them some slack. It is confirmed that the game is in the final stage of development and on the original track. But they aren’t sure if they’ll be able to polish the game to the quality fans expect. That is another major reason for its delay, and it is understandable. After all, Horizon Zero Dawn was amazing because of its quality, and we expect no less from its sequel.

Release Date and Pre orders

All news we bring you isn’t bad as Horizon Forbidden West release date is now confirmed. It was revealed at Gamescom 2021 that it is slated to release on February 18, 2021. So, it is just a matter of 4-5 more months till you can enjoy this highly anticipated sequel.

“We know how much you’ve been looking forward to reuniting with Aloy and her friends, continuing her story, and exploring a new and more dangerous world. Your passion, fan art, cosplay, virtual photography, and videos have meant the world to all of us”, stated the game director De Jonge.

Also, Horizon Forbidden West will be available to pre order, starting 2^nd September 2021. The game will be coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, as it is a Sony Play Station exclusive. It was also officially confirmed that the newly added update for the original game, Horizon Zero Dawn, is also arriving. The update adds a 60fps mode for PS5 users via backwards compatibility. More official information will follow the coming week.
