The Oshi no Ko anime adaptation has received a promotional video and a new visual, with the latter depicting the idol Ai Hoshino with her kids Aqua and Ruby. Cast and release date details were revealed as well. 

The anime will premiere sometime in April 2023. The revealed cast members include Takeo Otsuka as Aqua, Yurie Igoma as Ruby, Kento Itou as Goro, Tomoyo Takayanagi as Sarina , Yumi Uchiyama as young Aqua, and Yurie Igoma as young Ruby. Rie Takahashi was previously announced as the voice of idol Ai Hoshino.

Additionally, it was announced that the hour-long first episode will be pre-screened theatrically across Japan from March 17.

Oshi no Ko is based on the Shueisha-published manga written by Aka Akasaki and drawn by Mengo Yokoyari. The series began serialization in Weekly Young Jump in 2020 and has nine tankoubon volumes as of October 2022. It is published under the Young Jump Comics label.

Yen Press describes the premise as:

Gorou is a gynecologist and idol fan who’s in shock after his favorite star, Ai, announces an impromptu hiatus. Little does Gorou realize that he’s about to forge a bond with her that defies all common sense! Lies are an idol’s greatest weapon in this outrageous manga from Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) and Mengo Yokoyari (Scum’s Wish).  

The anime’s staff includes Daisuke Hiramaki (Selection Project, Asteroid in Love) as director, Chao Nekotomi (Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie opening director and storyboarder, Selection Project Episode 7 dance part director and storyboarder et al.) as assistant director, Kanna Hirayama (Selection Project, Rent-A-Girlfriend) as character designer, and Jin Tanaka (Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club, Laid-Back Camp) as series composer. Doga Kobo is the animation production company.
