#Homeless man living at UWS Lucerne Hotel beaten by another resident

A man living at a notorious Upper West Side homeless shelter took a beating from another resident outside a nearby restaurant on Sunday night, police and sources said.

The 42-year-old was left with swelling and cuts to his left eye when he was attacked by another man in front of Sarabeth’s restaurant on Amsterdam Avenue near 80th Street at about 6:20 p.m., police said.

The two men know each other and are residents of the Lucerne Hotel shelter on West 79th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, sources said.

No arrests were made by early Monday, police said.

Photos from the scene show blood along the sidewalk next to outdoor dining tables.

The city plans to relocate the roughly 200 homeless men living at the Lucerne to the Financial District’s Radisson hotel, but earlier this month an appeals court ruling temporarily halted the move.
